The Impact of Jesus Film

At the heart of everything we do is a simple yet life-changing truth: God’s love is not distant; it is present, active, and personal. We love, because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19 AMP) Here in Malawi, at Restoring Hope Africa, we are witnessing that love made visible as ordinary village men, women, children, and teenagers say “yes” to being the hands and feet of Jesus. “For we are His workmanship [His own master work], created in Christ Jesus for good works.” (Ephesians 2:10 AMP)

What began at the end of 2022 with outreach in just one village has now grown to 26 villages as of January 2026. Over the past two and a half years, we have reached more than 3,500 souls with the Gospel and connected with 200 pastors, strengthening local leadership and encouraging continued discipleship. “The Lord gave the word; great was the company of those who proclaimed it.” (Psalm 68:11 AMP)

One of the most powerful tools God has placed in our hands has been the Jesus Film.

We use it strategically in three ways:

On special occasions, this love is expressed powerfully through village Movie Night Outreaches, moments marked by prayer, unity, and faith that God’s Word does exactly what He promises. “So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; it will not return to Me void [useless, without result], without accomplishing what I desire.” (Isaiah 55:11 AMP)

Since completing our new 30 x 8 metre training facility in mid-January, we have already hosted three Jesus Film evenings, with more than 250 children and teenagers attending each session. The hunger among the youth is extraordinary. “Blessed and fortunate and happy are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” (Matthew 5:6 AMP)

As children and teenagers gather, we are reminded of the call to train up a child in the way he should go. “Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6 AMP) Through the Gospel shared in Chichewa, seeds of truth are planted — seeds that will continue to grow long after the screen goes dark. “The seed is the word of God.” (Luke 8:11 AMP) God’s love meets young hearts not only through teaching but through joy, hospitality, and presence.

However, evangelism is only the beginning. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.” (Matthew 28:19 AMP)

Since introducing the Jesus Film, we have also implemented the Knowing Jesus 61 Discipleship Sessions to establish new believers in their faith. We are rejoicing that:

  • More than 200 children and teenagers have completed all 61 sessions.

  • 40 of these teenagers now form part of our youth team, going out twice a month for door-to-door evangelism from village to village.

  • The fruit has been phenomenal, with salvations and growing spiritual hunger in the communities they visit.

“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things.” (Romans 10:15 AMP)

What moves us deeply is seeing those who once needed hope now becoming carriers of hope. They are not only discipled but also mobilised.

One of the most glorious testimonies is that of a 14-year-old boy who was once feared as a Gule Wamkulu practitioner, after hearing about Restoring Hope, he attended a Jesus Film outreach at our centre. That evening, as he watched the life of Jesus unfold before him, he encountered Christ personally and surrendered his life to Him. “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Saviour, he is a new creature.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 AMP)

What makes this testimony even more remarkable is that no one instructed him to renounce his former practices. Yet, under conviction, he returned home and burned his Gule masks and witchcraft items. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9 AMP) Since then, he has faithfully completed the 61 discipleship sessions and is now one of the teenagers boldly proclaiming the Gospel to both young and old. From fear to freedom. From darkness to light. “He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.” (Colossians 1:13 AMP)

Another powerful testimony comes from a young chief who gave his life to Jesus during a service at Restoring Hope. After encountering Christ, he invited “Mama Africa” to come and preach to his entire village. Using the Jesus Film tablet, we showed a short Chichewa video that clearly presented the Gospel. That day, six adults and many children gave their hearts to Jesus. “Believe in the Lord Jesus [as your personal Saviour and entrust yourself to Him] and you will be saved.” (Acts 16:31 AMP) Leadership was touched, and an entire community was opened to the truth.

Closing Blessings & Declaration

We stand on the promise that God’s Word does not return void but accomplishes what He sends it to do. We are seeing righteousness, peace, and joy taking root in communities where fear and hopelessness once dominated. “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17 AMP)

Everything we are witnessing points back to one truth: God chooses to love the world through His people. “You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:14 AMP) When teams serve, pray, cook, preach, set up equipment, or sit with a child, His love takes on hands and feet, and communities are changed.

From one village to twenty-six.

From a small beginning to thousands reached.

From new converts to young evangelists.

This is the Lord’s doing. “This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.” (Psalm 118:23 AMP)

This is the heart of Restoring Hope Africa: not only to preach the Gospel, but to see lives transformed and communities restored through the power of Jesus Christ.

We are deeply grateful for your prayers and support. Because of your partnership, we can carry the message of hope to villages that would otherwise remain unreached. Every outreach, every testimony, and every changed life is fruit that we share together.

Please continue to pray with us:

  • For open hearts in every village, we visit.

  • For protection and strength for our outreach teams.

  • For resources to reach even more communities in the coming months.

  • For lasting discipleship and strong local fellowships to be established.

  • The harvest is truly ready. We are simply humbled to be workers in His field.

  • Pray that God will provide a vehicle, like a Toyota High Lux 4×4, that we can use to move between villages, carrying the Jesus Film and other equipment.

Thank you for standing with us through prayer, partnership, and faith. Together, we are not only sharing the message of God’s love but also living it.

With sincere gratitude,

Amanda le Roux
