Harvest Time at Restoring Hope Mbalame
This past month, we experienced a powerful testimony of God’s provision during harvest time. During heavy, daily rains, what could have been a setback became a story of His faithfulness. We moved our maize harvest into our newly built hall and, with the help of our team and local workers, carefully shelled, packed, and stored the maize.
For four days, hands worked diligently – separating, weighing, sealing, and stacking each 25 kg bag. One of the most beautiful moments was seeing 32 women labouring side by side, laughing, encouraging one another, and pressing through together. It was more than work – it was dignity, unity, and purpose in action.
Every grain tells a story of God’s goodness. This harvest is not just provision; it is love expressed through action, and a testimony of obedience to the vision God placed in Barend’s heart.
Global Mission Challenge – A Divine Encounter
We had the incredible privilege of welcoming our very first mission team – 19 passionate young people from Global Mission Challenge. What a joyful moment as they arrived and were greeted by singing, dancing, and excited children!
There was an immediate unity – no barriers, only love. Together with our youth, they went out into the surrounding villages, sharing the Gospel from house to house. Across nine villages, many encountered the love of Jesus, and testimonies of healing and transformation followed.
But their impact did not stop there. With servant hearts, they:
- Cleared maize fields and prepared land for the next crop
- Repaired irrigation systems
- Weeded gardens and moved nearly 1000 kg of maize for drying
- Cleaned and restored facilities
- Served meals and built relationships with our children and village women
They worked humbly, joyfully, and wholeheartedly. This was the Gospel in motion – not only preached but lived.
We are deeply grateful for this team and for what God has begun in and through them.
Restoring Hope Prieska – A New Season
In Prieska, Bertus, Chanthal, and their twin girls are faithfully leading our support project in the Northern Cape.
We are preparing to launch discipleship classes for both children and their parents. While we continue meeting practical needs, we recognise that true transformation comes through the Gospel and intentional discipleship.
Through the upcoming Jesus Film Project Discipleship School, we trust God to bring healing and restoration in a community deeply affected by brokenness.
Empowerment Through Skills Development
One of our core pillars is economic empowerment. Over the past weeks, we have been equipping our team with practical life skills:
- Installing curtain rails and hanging fittings
- Sewing by hand and creative crafting
- Teacher development through in-house training
It has been a joy to see growth, creativity, and confidence emerging. These skills are seeds of hope – not only for personal development, but for uplifting entire communities.
Brave Leaders – Raising the Next Generation
We are currently mentoring 40 teenagers through our Brave Leaders programme. These young people are growing into passionate, disciplined, and devoted servant leaders.
They are becoming prayer warriors and bold witnesses for Christ, carrying a deep desire to see their villages transformed.
Our dream is to send them to a seven-week Teen Mission Bootcamp, where they will receive practical and spiritual training. However, the cost is high, and we are trusting God for provision.
